The Bachelorette Review: The Tia Tea

It happens every season. I skip a recap or two because I get bored with the season. However, the hometown date was actually pretty good considering it’s usually really boring. Here are my thoughts on each one, along with what I thought about Tia coming back to talk to Becca about Colton.

Garrett: Garrett and Becca had such a great hometown. It felt the most effortless and relaxed of the bunch of hometown dates. I think we got some more insight from the family, and it almost made me feel a little bit better about Garrett’s story about his ex wife since it aligns a lot with his family’s. My thing is, I just can’t see Becca saying goodbye to Garrett. When she called Jason and Blake first, I knew it couldn’t possibly be Garrett.

Blake: Blake reminds me so much of Nick from Andi’s season, and I can totally see him having a very emotional exit if Becca doesn’t choose him. Out of all the guys, he seems the most into her and the most likely to be completely shattered if Becca doesn’t pick him. Also as a side note, Blake had a very dramatic high school life. Between the affair with his mom and the shooting, he had it rough as a teenager.

Jason: When the season started, I had a crush on Jason that none of my friends understood because he was barely featured. Now, everyone gets why he’s my season crush. He’s very real and goofy, and then he says things to Becca that makes me swoon. I feel like he’s make a great Bachelor and maybe even a different type than we’re used to. Arie, Nick, Chris and Ben were descent, but they’ve all been pretty serious. Jason would be funny and charismatic, which is something we haven’t seen in a while. His family seems awesome, and I loved how much love there was between his brother and husband. Side Note* Have we ever seen a gay couple on the show?

Colton: I listened to the Almost Famous Podcast today, and I really feel bad for being down on Colton all season. He was pretty transparent about his relationship with Tia and Becca on the podcast, and I think the show made him look shadier than he actually is. His dad was actually the best with questions in my opinion during the hometown. He knows it was hard for Colton to open up, so it was nice for him to give it back by asking about Arie.

Other Thoughts:

  • I can see where Tia was coming from. She wanted to be calm and cool about the situation with Colton, but she finally had to have her peace. I have a hard time defending her though because I really didn’t like her throwing Bekah M. under the bus last season, along with speaking poorly about Kendall. So when she did this to Becca, it made me feel so badly for Becca. That being said, Tia is getting a lot of hate on social media, and people need to chill out. Colton is going to paradise. Becca is engaged. No need for hate.
  • So that’s my recap. I’m worried for Blake. Apologetic toward Colton. Still Obsessed with Jason, and happy for Garrett….because he’s probably engaged to Becca.

The Bachelorette Review: Team Jordan

I know. I know. It’s a controversial stance to be on Jordan’s team, but honestly, David annoyed me so much almost like when Evan used to instigate Chad all the time on Jojo’s season. This episode was a million times more interesting than last week’s so let’s jump to my top 5 after this episode along with my thoughts on the dates.

Garrett: Garrett is still going strong as Becca and him have a couple cute moments. When he was reading his song to her, they were cuddling like a real couple, and you can just tell Becca still really likes him.

Blake: Blake is so charming. Him telling Becca he was falling in love was so genuine. It was almost like a movie moment as they went outside of the building to kiss and be all cutesy. I’m a big Blake fan, and to me, he’s got the strongest connection so far.

Jason: I personally have a big crush on Jason because he just seems like a Ben Higgins type of guy. I think he might be able to squeeze in the top 4 maybe, but it’s kind of a stretch considering how little time he has gotten.

Colton: The Colton date was sort of boring for me. It had the classic hot tub in the middle of nowhere gag, along with a very vey vague timeline of when Colton first said I love you to a past girlfriend. I don’t get the Colton hype like I said in my recap last week, but he can do no wrong in Becca’s eyes. At least that’s the way it comes off on the show.

Wills: Wills is the biggest surprise of the season. I have to give him so much props for how he handled the Chris confrontation. He handled it like a boss, and you can clearly see that Becca was annoyed at Chris interrupting their time together. He made a good point that he never even had to give him those 2 minutes in the first place. Also, I’m loving Wills’s outfits so much. His blue two piece was so dope.

Other Thoughts:

  • Okay okay, do I think Jordan is self-absorbed? Yes. Do I think he is a little socially awkward and maybe doesn’t pick up on social cues? Yup. But I have this weird need to defend him a little almost like I did with Corinne. He never targeted anyone. He never said anything mean to anyone. Even with David constantly instigating him all the time, Jordan tried to diffuse the situation by saying he was focusing on his relationship with Becca. And ya know what? I think Becca felt the same way. At least Jordan used his time to open up. David used his time to talk about Jordan. And he crashed and burned because of it, and I’m not mad at the outcome. I also think Becca didn’t really take offense to what Jordan said because he’s all about joking around, and David really dropped the ball because he told Becca all these half truths. Becca handled this date and Jordan in general really well. When he started talking about modeling, she had fun and entertained it. Jordan leaving wasn’t really a surprise, but he’s more for paradise anyway.
  • For Vegas, I kind of found the dates boring. We had two singing dates this season already?
  • Chris, oh Chris. I sort of understand what Chris was thinking. He felt neglected and then after talking to Becca, he was like “ok, gotta take charge now.” But he went about it all wrong and couldn’t quite read Becca that well. She was clearly annoyed at the cocktail party, and it looks like there might be some drama with Lincoln next week too.
  • I really liked Becca this episode. She handled everything really well, and I love that she calls people out when she needs to like David and Chris but also knows when to entertain certain people in their delusions like Jordan who is ultimately harmless.
  • So we basically only have narratives for four people. Like Leo has no shot. Connor doesn’t either. I wish there was a little more moments with other people. I remember on Arie’s season, he at least had really awesome moments with Seinne, Chelsea, Tia, and Kendall. His top 8 at least was more suspenseful of who was he going to choose.
  • Can’t wait to get down to some of the other relationships and build upon the existing ones in episode 6!

The Bachelorette Review: 4000 Matches & 2 Injuries

The Bachelorette was back with another strong episode as the drama intensified in the house, and we got some surprises with an unexpected exit, an injury and some dark horses emerging. Here are my top 5 after watching this episode.

Blake: Blake is still going strong with Becca. I loved how he called her his girlfriend. It was very endearing, but we do see him being a little uneasy this episode because he had to learn how to share her when he had so much one on one time early on. I think it’s only natural for the people who get dates early on to get a little territorial kinda like Nick from Andi’s season. But I think Blake won’t cause drama because of it. I’m a big Blake fan so I hope he doesn’t self-implode.

Jason: Becca has a crush on Jason and so do I. When he popped up on my screen last night, I was like “Who is this Jason guy? He’s so cute.” He stood out too because he laughed off Becca forgetting his name, and I actually thought he was going to get the group date rose. He has some Ben Higgins vibes because he comes off very charming and genuine. But more importantly, Jason’s reaction to Jordan and David was so hilarious that it made me like him even more.

Garrett: I really liked Garrett in this episode. He’s goofy and you can tell he doesn’t take himself too seriously. I can see why Becca likes him because he just comes off as such a good-natured person.

Jean: Jean is such a confident guy. How could you not like this guy? I’m pegging him as my dark horse.

Colton: Colton isn’t really my type so I don’t really get all the hype about him being the best looking guy, but it’s working for Becca because she was able to overlook how sketchy the whole Colton and Tia relationship was. I think he got away with it pretty easily. And I love all the girls supporting Becca, but I honestly feel like Tia wasn’t really over the situation. When Becca said “Do you think he was hoping it would be you as bachelorette?” Tia fresponded ” Probab…I mean possibly.” Also, if Colton really liked Tia, he wouldn’t have gone on the show.

Other Thoughts:

  • Jordan comes off better than David simply because he’s just minding his own business. This is sort of like how Corinne came off better than Taylor because Corinne was just doing Corinne while Taylor was constantly instigating unnecessary drama.
  • Clay! Poor Clay. He’s such a sweet guy, and although I didn’t think he’d end up with Becca, I did foresee him going pretty far, so it was such a shame he left early.
  • David falling was so scary. Bunk beds need rails.
  • I have to bring up the Jordan and David fight because Wills, Jason and Jean’s reactions made me actually laugh out loud. So relatable for anyone that has been involved in friend drama when they don’t want anything to do with it.
  • Chris had a great one on one date, but I think the preview makes him cause drama that he sort of started in the first episode. With that being said, I was so heartbroken by his story with his dad and it made me wanna root for him.
  • I loved the guys who kept the nail polish on. It made the drama going on even more funny when you suddenly saw a flash of their nails.
  • Becca was a little more lively this episode especially when she commented about Jordan’s matches. I don’t think Becca necessarily has the same fire that Rachel had, but she is definitely relatable because not everyone has that personality. She’s a little more laidback, but when she needs to hold her own, she can which is great.

The Bachelorette Recap & Thoughts on Garrett’s Social Media

Blake: Blake and Becca’s date was so cute. He was perfect for the date because he sort of let Becca take the lead as she went smashing away at all of her and Arie’s memories. Blake is such a sweetheart, and I just like how genuine he seems.

Jean: Jean got the rose and deservedly so as he stayed out of the drama and made a quick connection with Becca.

Garrett: Garrett got the first impression rose, and I’ll get into the social media controversy surrounding him later, but just looking at his appearance on the show alone, he seems quirky and I loved his minivan entrance. It was original and fun.

Colton: Colton dated Tia, who was supposed to be the bachelorette before Becca and Arie broke up. So it looks pretty shady, and from the way he worded his relationship with Tia, he was super vague about the timeline so there’s some major red flags there, but it makes for some interesting drama.

Honorable Mentions:

Christon: Christon is very smooth with his basketball game gimmick and I’ll peg him as my dark horse for now.

David the Chicken: The chicken is actually a contender. He is very handsome, but I hope he doesn’t get caught up in drama with Jordan because it just makes him look petty.

Leo: Dodgeball champ and good commentary so far.

Joe the Grocery Guy: Nothing makes me happier than knowing Joe has a huge social media following considering he left night one. He has more Instagram followers than most of the current contestants. Justice for Joe will probably come because he seems like a lock for Paradise.

Jordan: Jordan is so funny. He has the best one liners and he doesn’t bother me at all. If I were a contestant in the house, I would probably be more amused than annoyed by his antics.

Other Thoughts

  • So before the show started, Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Jojo came on to prove how funny and badass they truly are. I mean the bachelorettes are so awesome considering they’re all still together with their night one picks.
  • Becca’s clothing has been so on point. Her red lace jumpsuit was sooo pretty on her group date, and I’m probably gonna go online to find out where she got it.
  • Complete side note from show: Ashley I and Jared finally got together, and it made me believe in rom coms coming to life.
  • The Arie bashing is getting old already. We get it. I’m sure Becca is over it too.
  • About the Garrett thing: So Garrett’s social media from a while ago showed him liking some anti feminist and more right winged memes. I’ve only seen a couple of screenshots, but it did make me like him a little less. He made an apology which I appreciated, and I don’t think all his likes from a long time ago should reflect his present. However, it did make me judge him on the show, which I know isn’t fair, but it makes for an interesting concept: Could you date someone who has completely different values politically?
  • Overall, the first episode was pretty entertaining, and the Colton drama made for some pretty juicy stuff this week.

Bachelor Finale & Winter Games Thoughts

So I fell asleep halfway through Arie’s season only to be completed bombarded with the intense finale that left me even shocked. It was crazy enough that he told two women that he loved them, so I initially thought he picked Lauren and just had a really ugly breakup with Becca before the proposal. But after seeing him propose to Becca, I knew there must be more to the story considering we had another two hours the following day.

Watching the first half wasn’t a total snooze fest. We got to feel even more bad for Becca when Arie’s dad basically said “You know either choice is just fine with me.” Then she had to sit through endless comparisons to Lauren.

To me, this was totally like a Jason Mesnick and Ben Higgins mashup finale.

It reminded me of Ben’s season because Becca reminded me a lot of Jojo and Lauren B. reminded me of well Lauren B. He told both girls he loved them leaving both of the finalists confident he’ll pick them. It really reminds me of Jason’s season for obvious reasons, but also because Lauren and Molly were both the risks, while Becca and Melissa seemed more of a sure thing because of how transparent they were on the show.

When it came to the breakup with Becca, it was so brutal to watch. Arie wanted to film it so that viewers knew it was his fault, which is OK I guess. I mean if we didn’t see it, it would be all he said, she said. What isn’t OK was his nonchalant nature about the breakup. He said they were “hanging out.” Umm Arie? You two are engaged. And poor Becca thought he was asking to date both of them, while Arie just wanted her to get the hint that he wanted to break up with her for Lauren.

I think the fact that he felt so torn is a huge red flag. Another red flag is the fact that he slid into Lauren’s DMs and apparently Bekah M.’s too. Arie is 36 years old. This is some immature behavior just based on the facts. Do I hope Arie and Lauren last? Of course! If Lauren is Arie’s person, then none of this trivial stuff should get into the way. And Lauren is a sweetheart, so none of the hate should come her way. It was all Arie’s actions.

Becca is one tough woman. She endured their breakup with such class, and she didn’t even give Arie the satisfaction of giving him a hug and sort of leaving things on a “good note” which is exactly why he stayed for a long time after. Their breakup was so authentic and she still handled it so well. I’m so happy that she was announced as the next Bachelorette. Some people think she’ll be boring, but she seems like someone many women can relate to. She’s a girl’s girl, and you can tell when all the girls from her season all gave her hugs and cried with happiness.  Oh and out of the guys they brought up to the stage? The last guy with the horse was  my favorite.

Overall, I think this season will leave people talking merely because of the finale’s twist. It wasn’t an amazing season, but you know what made it a little better? The Bachelor Winter Games. Some people might’ve hated it, but I liked this show so much because the couples seemed way more authentic. Dean and Lesley are surprisingly adorable. Lesley is so sure of herself and broke down exactly the man Dean needs to be for her. I’m beyond stoked that Ashley found someone like Kevin. Courtney and Lily were like the high school sweethearts of the show, and Clare and Benoit were the surprise couple to form after filming. The show was a hit in my book, and it made me love characters like Yuki and Ben.

That’s my Bachelor wrap up for the season. I’m so pumped to see Becca in a few months.

The Bachelor Recap: What Just Happened?

I had to watch the episode a bit late, but all my friends told me it was really good drama, and they were right. This episode was so funny and ridiculous. Krystal was crazy. Savage Arie is starting to come out, and Tia stole my heart. Here’s my top 5 frontrunner list for this episode.

Chelsea: Chelsea is one of my favorites this season, and I’m glad I wasn’t quick to judge her even during the first episode. Her date with Arie was super sweet, and they have a good chemistry.

Lauren B: OK, Chelsea and Arie have a good chemistry, but I thought Lauren and Arie’s time together was actually really cute and proved they had even better chemistry together. The game was silly, but it made for them to get to know each other a bit better. I can see Lauren going far after this episode.

Becca K.: Becca got to go to Arie’s room, and she was getting a little worried after feeling like her date was a long time ago. I still think she’s a frontrunner. She’ll probably have a second date in the next couple of episodes.

Tia: Tia and Arie had such a good time together on their date. I kind of wish they didn’t pigeon hole her into this date. Like why couldn’t she have a glamorous date like most of the girls have had so far?

Kendall: Kendall is one of a kind, and she owns it, which is why Arie probably likes her sort of weirdness.

Thoughts on Krystal:

  • Usually I have thoughts on the episode as a whole, but let’s delve into everything that was Krystal. First off, thank you Krystal. She provided the most entertaining two hours of television for me in a while.
  • I mean Krystal went wrong when she didn’t accept responsibility for throwing her little fit.  She just kept making excuses. I feel like if she apologized and just said “You know what guys, I was out of line,” things would’ve been fine. I think Arie is started seeing that sort of manipulative side to her, so she should be leaving sometime soon. We’ll see!
  • Krystal had so many crazy quotes this episode. The glitter one made me laugh because she was so serious when she said it. I thought she was being pretty childish throughout the episode by throwing a fit to get Arie’s attention. I thought the way everyone went about Krystal was interesting.
  • I actually liked Kendall pulling her aside and talking to her so calmly. As much as I love Bekah, I actually didn’t like how she egged on Krystal. She was instigating a lot of the drama too, and I sort of felt like her age was showing a bit in this episode.
  • I think Arie handled the whole thing really well. I’m glad he went up to talk to her before the cocktail party because I mean, she was talking crap about him specifically, so of course, he’d want to get that out of the way, so he can focus on the girls rather than having it hang over the night. All in all, Arie did a solid job this episode, except when he licked the ball. That was gross.
  • I cannot wait until the next episode. They’re going to Paris, which is actually really cool, so I’m excited to see what’s to come.
  • Oh my last thought: Jenna- She was drunk the entire episode. The entire time maybe. It made me laugh so hard.

The Bachelor Recap: Take a Hike

This episode featured a ton of drama between the girls, mostly involving Krystal. The women got to pack their bags for Tahoe, and there were two solo dates and one awkward group date. Here’s my picks for the top 5 this week, along with some thoughts.

Becca K.: Becca barely had any airtime, but she seems like she’s pretty cordial with everyone and avoids all the drama in the house. I still think she’s going far.

Bekah M.: Bekah is the front runner in my mind. Arie and Bekah had a crazy date, where she revealed her age. I think Arie liked her enough to give her a chance, but I can tell Arie needed some time to probably process everything.

Seinne: Seinne is awesome, and I think she should be the next Bachelorette provided she gets that far. I think she carried the entire date really well, and she was actually bringing out such a good side of Arie. Seeing them on their date made me like Arie a lot more too.

Tia: Tia is a firecracker for sure, and she reminds me so much of Jojo and Raven. I think Arie really likes Tia too, and it showed despite the drama surrounding her.

Kendall: Kendall is such a quirky chick. That’s probably why I like her so much. She’s confident and owns her weirdness, which is why I think Arie kind of digs her.

Other Thoughts:

  • With all the drama going on, I mostly agreed with Caroline and Tia. I mean Krystal literally called herself flawless. But I didn’t like when Tia didn’t even look at Krystal when she asked to speak with them. That was a bit mean girl for me.
  • I like Chelsea the more and more I see her. The glam shaming bit at the end was hilarious.
  • Arie did a great job in this episode. I was so hard on him for my past recaps, but I actually liked how he handled everything.
  • These group dates are rough. The hiking date looked like another nightmare with the girls not knowing where to go.
