The Bachelorette Premiere Review: Rachel Meets Her Men

The Bachelorette is back, and I’m excited for what looks like a drama filled season. Rachel handled herself like a champ in the premiere episode, even when the men were cringeworthy toward her, but we’ll touch on that later. Let’s look at my top 5 after this episode.

Bryan: Bryan made such a great impression last night. The rose seemed to be given purely based on the physical chemistry between him and Rachel, but they were so cute when they were talking to each other in that outside corner of the mansion.

Peter: I’m really good at telling when two people look good together just based on presence when they’re together, and I see it with Rachel and Peter. He was the first one out of the limo and those people always make it very far.

Eric: Out of the four people that met Rachel previously, Eric had the best first impression with his dancing. He seems like he has a fun personality too.

Dean: Let me say that Dean’s first entrance on the show was horrifying when he said he was “going black and never going back.” That line made me cringe so much. It’s so offensive especially because highlighting Rachel’s race should not be the focus of the season. But he did way better with his little sandcastle setup.

Alex: Just based on looks to be honest…..but I did love that he brought a vacuum cleaner to mirror what was shown when Rachel was auditioning for The Bachelor last season.

Other Thoughts:

  • I loved that Rachel brought all the girls back that she was close to on Nick’s season including Corinne, Raven and Alexis.
  • Rachel’s dress was so pretty especially with the straps in the back
  • Rachel handled Lucas very well. He was so disrespectful and obnoxious for most of the episode. It was funny for 3 seconds, and then became annoying.
  • Josiah and Dimario either become best friends or enemies. They’re so similar in their confidence so we’ll see. That being said, I loved Josiah’s story coming full circle.
  • The tickle monster was disturbing.
  • Adam Jr. was so ridiculous, but it was kind of funny too.
  • Mohit was so hilarious. I wish we got more of his drunk moments.

The Bachelor Blog: Stiletto Power

Raven: I really liked Raven’s date with Nick. It was fun, easygoing and just a nice normal date. But besides that, I love Raven’s personality. She has a sweet southern charm, but she’s also pretty headstrong and confident, which I’m sure is what attracted Nick to her. Her past relationship is super dark, and I love the way she told it without any sort of sugar coating on it. Raven really stood out this episode, and she rose to the top for me in this episode.

Vanessa: Vanessa is such an awesome human being. Her little scrapbook was a cute little reminder of how old school she seems in comparison to the other women. She and Nick have a very strong connection, so we’ll see what happens next.

Corinne: Corinne is crazy, but she wasn’t the craziest person in this episode. To me, Taylor came off as super entitled and demeaning toward Corinne. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Corinne is delusional in some of her thoughts, but at least she owns it and doesn’t bother the other women. She’s not being rude to any of the women, so I’m not sure why some of them feel the need to judge her and question her intentions when they should be focusing on Nick.

Rachel: Rachel is going far! I think she’s just having a slow start. We keep seeing small little scenes between her and Nick, but nobody seems to see her as a legitimate threat. I think she’s going to make it somewhat far, but until we see the one on one date, we will have to wait to see if there is a real connection.

Danielle M: How funny was Danielle when she read the date card? Love her. She just seems so chill.

Other Random Thoughts:

  • Danielle L. didn’t make my top 5 because I honestly didn’t think there was that much of a real connection between the two of them. She just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. Maybe it was just nerves, but I don’t think there’s much to their relationship.
  • The ex in the coffee shop was just about as real as the girl’s excitement of going to Milwaukee.
  • Seriously, it didn’t add anything to the show really.
  • Bella is killing it. She reminds me of the little sister from 500 Days of Summer.
  • Cristen left! I loved her, and I hope she makes it on BIP.
  • Nick handled Vanessa’s questioning pretty terribly. He really couldn’t defend himself, so he just reassured her. I guess in the moment, it worked out fine, but it did not read well on television.
  • I saw Leah, Olivia and Corrine hanging out together on social media. I love when the villains ban together.

Bachelor Blog: Planned Dancing

Here are my top 5 after this episode.

Vanessa: I love Vanessa. She was my early pick after the first episode, but she really exceeded my expectations. The date seemed like so much fun until she started feeling sick. Nick was so sweet and protective over her, which was a nice side to see to him. I really liked their dinner date as well because they had a very meaningful conversation followed by Nick actually crying! Then we end with a cliffhanger of her calling Nick out. We’ll see what happens next week.

Rachel: Rachel is another one of my favorites from this episode. She just seems very put together and had a great attitude at the group date. This was her first date outside of the house, and she seemed very grateful.

Danielle L: Danielle had a great showing this week, but I only see a physical connection between the two. I honestly don’t remember much from their conversation, but she might be a dark horse.

Raven: I still think Raven is going to go very far this season. She doesn’t seem like Nick’s type, but she seems like she’s got a connection with Nick still.

Corinne: Corinne is so ridiculous, it almost seems unreal. She is such a cringe worthy character to have on the show. It does worry me that females might think this is the sort of behavior they need to get the guy.  I love that Vanessa said she’s not judging Corinne because at the end of the day, they should be solely judging Nick, the object of their affection, not Corinne.

Other Random Thoughts:

  • Alexis is my spirit animal. She’s hilarious.
  • The reaction to Liz was pretty underwhelming. Nobody seemed to care.
  • The entire season seems like it’s geared toward questioning Nick’s intentions.
  • Sending Dominique home was smart on Nick’s part. She was just comparing herself to all the other girls.
  • Josephine is such a riot. She’s quirky and a lock for BIP.

The Bachelor Blog: Just Corrine

What a mess of an episode. It was a little frustrating that it’s only episode two, and it’s already the Corinne show. It took away from the other girls, and while I usually love the drama, it was overkill. The Liz drama was way more interesting, especially with Christen knowing everything.

Raven: I really liked Raven’s one on one time with Nick. It felt genuine, and I liked how easygoing their conversation was about their past relationships. She definitely might be a dark horse.

Vanessa and Rachel: Vanessa and Rachel were people that had zero screen time, but I thought were going to make it far. Vanessa calling out Nick next week will be amazing, and I think Nick will respect her for asking that in the first place. After all, his actions with Corinne were questionable.

Corrine: Corrine was so exhausting after this episode. She was such a trainwreck with all her insecurities bleeding everywhere in two hours. I honestly felt bad for her that she felt like she had to intervene so many times to talk to Nick. I’ll defend Nick a little bit in this episode because I do think he was encouraged by the producers to give her the rose. If it were Ben, they’d encourage him to give it to whoever he wants because Ben is known for being the “perfect guy.” But Nick has a little more edge to him, and they probably know it’s going to ruffle feathers.

Danielle: Danielle is a sweetheart. You heard all the other girls being happy for Danielle for getting the first date. She’s a little soft-spoken for Nick, but I won’t rule her out for that simple fact. She’s a strong woman for sure with her backstory, and I can see her making it pretty far.

Other Random Thoughts:

  • Cristen was amazing in this episode, and I thought she handled herself fairly well. Telling Nick about Liz was probably not the best, but it wasn’t forced by any means. It seemed pretty natural in conversation, and her read on the whole situation was on point. I’d be friends with her in real life.
  • Liz and Nick handled the situation pretty terribly. Nick was so cold and distant toward her, and she expected him to act normal. Her breakup speech to him was definitely relatable. I mean, every girl wants a guy to fight for her. In this case, there was just a lot of miscommunication between the two of them, and that was the end of it. Boy, it was awkward television, but it was entertaining too. I think Liz was being a little too hard on Nick, and I think Nick just didn’t know how to handle the whole situation.
  • Taylor isn’t in my top 5 because I really didn’t think Nick was all that into her, but that was just based on body language.
  • The slap was so overplayed in the promos, and I knew it’d be too good to be true.

The Bachelor Blog: 27 Red Dresses

The Bachelor is back, and I’m late with my review already! Here are my top 5 after episode 1, along with some other random thoughts.

Rachel: Rachel reminds me so much of Andi, and Nick has always liked strong independent women, so it’s no surprise he liked Rachel because she gives off a very put together and confident attitude in the limited time she has with Nick. They had a very easygoing conversation, and her red dress didn’t get in the way of the first impression rose.

Vanessa: I really like Vanessa already. I feel like I’d be friends with her in real life. She just seems very genuine and her and Nick had a nice connection. Nick also said “She’s a keeper,” which is way more of a compliment in all honesty than saying she’s pretty or cute.

Danielle L: Danielle is someone who I’ll put as my dark horse. She’s beautiful and came off really well in the first episode.

Corinne: Corinne said about thirty things that made me cringe in the first episode. She seems like such a great villain. Olivia was always somewhat likable in Ben’s season, so it’s always nice to have a villain that just makes the show more entertaining. She’s aggressive and I’m 100 percent positive that Nick will consider the fact that he was painted a villain in his season if the other women say she’s no good.

Sarah: Sarah was the girl that ran up in sneakers as the “runner up” and although most of the intro corniness makes me want to barf, I thought it was pretty cute. She also wore that really pretty lavender gown.

Other Thoughts

  • I don’t know what’s worse, that the shark wore her costume all night or that she’s 23 years old going on the show.
  • Haley might be better off with Daniel/
  • The girls needed to chill with the red dresses. It’s the Bachelor, not prom.
  • OK, regarding the Liz thing. It seemed super awkward. When she explained herself, it really didn’t make sense when they were talking, but maybe that was just nerves. The whole exchange between them seemed a bit forced. I will defend her for a second though because I could completely understand the idea that she thought it would be exciting to see him again. Poor girl is getting beat up on Twitter, but I get where she’s coming from.
  • How the heck did Olivia not make it? She came in with the fur coat and was so charming.
  • Jimmy Kimmel had both Andi, Kaitlyn and Nick on the show, and man was it awkward!
  • It looks like a drama packed season, and I’m stoked.
  • I’m curious to know what others think of the whole Liz thing so comment below!

BIP Review: Why Nick Becoming The Bachelor is the Best Decision

Here is my recap of paradise after the last episode.

Ashley and Wells: How cute were these two? I love Wells. He was one of the best guys from Jojo’s season and ya know, actually had a personality. I loved their date, which was filled with tacos and dogs, something they both love. I think they had great chemistry, and it was nice to see Ashley have some success on the show. She’s not nearly as crazy as they edit her to be, and it’s finally showing with Wells. I also like that Wells cleared up that he would’ve picked Ashley regardless of all the pressure from the other cast members.

Caila and Jared: So Caila decides to leave because of Ashley, so Jared and Caila leave paradise together. But you have to watch After Paradise if you didn’t because it was some next levels of awkwardness when they have Caila, Jared and Ashley all sitting on a couch. It’s so apparent that Jared and Ashley are cool and still good friends. The coldness between Jared and Caila was so icy, and I actually appreciated Caila finally standing up for herself and saying that Jared needs to cut ties with Ashley. It’s all starting to sound like a bad romantic comedy at this point.

Nick and Jen: So Jen tweeted that Amy Schumer gif with her drinking that giant wine glass during After Paradise, and I thought it was hilarious. We know that Jen and Nick don’t work out, but they were cute in these past episodes. Now, let me say how happy I am that Nick Viall is the next freaking bachelor. Luke and Chase were cute, but neither has the candidness and humor that Nick brings to the table. Nick’s polarizing for sure, but it’s about time we get a bachelor with a strong personality. He’s going to be an awesome bachelor. Also, as a sidenote, I love Nick’s frienship with Ashley.

Josh and Amanda: So I’m not sure if Josh is stoked about Nick being the bachelor. But I do feel bad for all the hate coming to Amanda about her relationship. I don’t love Josh, but I also haven’t met this guy to say I can’t stand him.

Carly and Evan: Carly and Evan were super cute when they were having their little cuddle session.

Grant and Lace: Lace is nuts, but she does go through something very relatable, which is pushing someone away because you’re scared. Luckily, Grant has the patience.

Brett and Izzy: I’m indifferent about Brett and Izzy.

BIP Review: Three Tears Too Many

Ashley / Emily/ Jared/ Caila: So Jared broke it off with Emily for Caila. He seemed really into Caila. He seemed so somber even with Emily, but with Caila, his body language is so different. Then, Ashley came to paradise, and oh my god. I love Ashley because she’s so honest and real, but like the conversation with Jared at the rose ceremony was so intense. He’s so not into her, but she’s not ready to move on. I love the conversation with Nick and Ashley. It’s the kind of conversation for Jared to have with Ashley.

Daniel and Sarah: Daniel and Sarah have been super cute, and based on their social media, they still hang out so maybe they just have a good friendship now? I really like these two, but importantly, I really love Daniel. I’ve been defending his weirdness in Jojo’s season too. He’s just so funny. If you watched the aftershow, he’s hilarious but also endearing. When the hosts ask why he left Ashley during their date, he just plainly says he was hungry.

Izzy and Vinny: Izzy and Vinny are very sweet together and remained pretty strong throughout the episode. There seems like trouble in paradise next week though.

Grant and Lace: These two are also super rock solid. I love how Lace was not having it about having water poured on her. Honestly, the whole date seemed really fun.

Nick and Jen: I’ve always liked Nick’s honesty, and he gives great advice to all his friends in both episodes. I love how he told Emily it’s okay to be upset, and that Ashley is just infatuated with him. Haley giving him a rose was another great friendship moment. He really made a comeback, and then Jen comes to paradise. These two are great. I’m really happy for Nick.

Evan and Carly: Carly’s commentary is the best. With her commentating every single occurrence with Evan, it makes sense why she ended up liking him in the end. They were both so funny and I was actually dying when Carly thought Evan made this all up to impress her.

Amanda and Josh: Poor Amanda. She and Josh have had quite the interesting edit. I mean it’a literally just pizza and making out. Andi’s book is the real winner here, as she’s getting some free publicity. They might as well plant a spare copy on Amanda’s pillow.

Now to the fashion from the episode: http://www.pradux.com/tv/bachelor-in-paradise

Ashley Iaconetti's Feather Print Maxi Dress on Bachelor in Paradise

I loved these outfits in this scene. Ashley’s dress was so pretty, and Haley’s looks great with her updo. I also liked Emily’s off the shoulder dress. The prints were all pretty, but Ashley’s feather printed dress was stunning.

Jen Saviano's Floral Romper on Bachelor in Paradise

Jen walked in looking so pretty in this romantic one piece. The floral print and ruffles worked really well with her loose waves.

Amanda Stanton's White Lace Off-The-Shoulder Dress on Bachelor in Paradise

I really liked this dress from Haley. The color is super pretty and the strategic cutouts work well with her shape. The twins always kill it with their style. Amanda also wore this off the shoulder dress, and it was cute.

Lace Morris' White Lace Bustier Dress on Bachelor in Paradise

I really liked how Lace wore this dress so effortlessly with simply blue earrings and a fishtail. It worked really well, and it actually stood out from the off the shoulder dresses and maxi dresses.

Emily Ferguson's Blue Lace Asymmetric Dress on Bachelor in Paradise

This was super pretty. I love the asymmetrical cut of the dress, and I’m a huge fan of the color.

Sarah Herron's Leaf Print Strapless Romper on Bachelor in Paradise

Sarah is the real MVP when it comes to fashion because this romper was only $14.99 from H&M. Compared to the other 100-200 dollar dresses and rompers, this was a great steal.
