The Bachelorette Recap & Thoughts on Garrett’s Social Media

Blake: Blake and Becca’s date was so cute. He was perfect for the date because he sort of let Becca take the lead as she went smashing away at all of her and Arie’s memories. Blake is such a sweetheart, and I just like how genuine he seems.

Jean: Jean got the rose and deservedly so as he stayed out of the drama and made a quick connection with Becca.

Garrett: Garrett got the first impression rose, and I’ll get into the social media controversy surrounding him later, but just looking at his appearance on the show alone, he seems quirky and I loved his minivan entrance. It was original and fun.

Colton: Colton dated Tia, who was supposed to be the bachelorette before Becca and Arie broke up. So it looks pretty shady, and from the way he worded his relationship with Tia, he was super vague about the timeline so there’s some major red flags there, but it makes for some interesting drama.

Honorable Mentions:

Christon: Christon is very smooth with his basketball game gimmick and I’ll peg him as my dark horse for now.

David the Chicken: The chicken is actually a contender. He is very handsome, but I hope he doesn’t get caught up in drama with Jordan because it just makes him look petty.

Leo: Dodgeball champ and good commentary so far.

Joe the Grocery Guy: Nothing makes me happier than knowing Joe has a huge social media following considering he left night one. He has more Instagram followers than most of the current contestants. Justice for Joe will probably come because he seems like a lock for Paradise.

Jordan: Jordan is so funny. He has the best one liners and he doesn’t bother me at all. If I were a contestant in the house, I would probably be more amused than annoyed by his antics.

Other Thoughts

  • So before the show started, Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Jojo came on to prove how funny and badass they truly are. I mean the bachelorettes are so awesome considering they’re all still together with their night one picks.
  • Becca’s clothing has been so on point. Her red lace jumpsuit was sooo pretty on her group date, and I’m probably gonna go online to find out where she got it.
  • Complete side note from show: Ashley I and Jared finally got together, and it made me believe in rom coms coming to life.
  • The Arie bashing is getting old already. We get it. I’m sure Becca is over it too.
  • About the Garrett thing: So Garrett’s social media from a while ago showed him liking some anti feminist and more right winged memes. I’ve only seen a couple of screenshots, but it did make me like him a little less. He made an apology which I appreciated, and I don’t think all his likes from a long time ago should reflect his present. However, it did make me judge him on the show, which I know isn’t fair, but it makes for an interesting concept: Could you date someone who has completely different values politically?
  • Overall, the first episode was pretty entertaining, and the Colton drama made for some pretty juicy stuff this week.

The Bachelor Blog: 27 Red Dresses

The Bachelor is back, and I’m late with my review already! Here are my top 5 after episode 1, along with some other random thoughts.

Rachel: Rachel reminds me so much of Andi, and Nick has always liked strong independent women, so it’s no surprise he liked Rachel because she gives off a very put together and confident attitude in the limited time she has with Nick. They had a very easygoing conversation, and her red dress didn’t get in the way of the first impression rose.

Vanessa: I really like Vanessa already. I feel like I’d be friends with her in real life. She just seems very genuine and her and Nick had a nice connection. Nick also said “She’s a keeper,” which is way more of a compliment in all honesty than saying she’s pretty or cute.

Danielle L: Danielle is someone who I’ll put as my dark horse. She’s beautiful and came off really well in the first episode.

Corinne: Corinne said about thirty things that made me cringe in the first episode. She seems like such a great villain. Olivia was always somewhat likable in Ben’s season, so it’s always nice to have a villain that just makes the show more entertaining. She’s aggressive and I’m 100 percent positive that Nick will consider the fact that he was painted a villain in his season if the other women say she’s no good.

Sarah: Sarah was the girl that ran up in sneakers as the “runner up” and although most of the intro corniness makes me want to barf, I thought it was pretty cute. She also wore that really pretty lavender gown.

Other Thoughts

  • I don’t know what’s worse, that the shark wore her costume all night or that she’s 23 years old going on the show.
  • Haley might be better off with Daniel/
  • The girls needed to chill with the red dresses. It’s the Bachelor, not prom.
  • OK, regarding the Liz thing. It seemed super awkward. When she explained herself, it really didn’t make sense when they were talking, but maybe that was just nerves. The whole exchange between them seemed a bit forced. I will defend her for a second though because I could completely understand the idea that she thought it would be exciting to see him again. Poor girl is getting beat up on Twitter, but I get where she’s coming from.
  • How the heck did Olivia not make it? She came in with the fur coat and was so charming.
  • Jimmy Kimmel had both Andi, Kaitlyn and Nick on the show, and man was it awkward!
  • It looks like a drama packed season, and I’m stoked.
  • I’m curious to know what others think of the whole Liz thing so comment below!

The Bachelorette Review: From Thailand to Paradise

Zoe Chicco Earrings

Before I get to my review, check out these Zoe Chicco Earrings that Jojo wore on her People cover. Also, for details on her finale dress click here.

So I’ve got a ton to recap, including the finale of The Bachelorette as well as the first episode of Paradise. So for starters, let’s talk about Jojo and her finale episode. I mean for a dramatic finale, I don’t really have much to say. Jojo and Jordan are happy together, and Robby will be just fine. Luke’s looking to be the next bachelor.

We do have to talk about something that made me super annoyed though. I do have to give Jojo some credit because she handled the After the Final Rose like a champ. So back in Kaitlyn’s season, she got all this hate because she slept with Nick, and Chris Harrison made sure he told everyone it wasn’t okay. In other words, he had her back for the most part and supported her relationship with Shawn.

With Jojo, I was so annoyed with the questions she got concerning her relationship with Jordan. Did you guys ever consider breaking up? Has there been roadblocks? Will Aaron be coming to the wedding? I mean come on. The questions he asked were clearly trying to paint a negative picture of Jojo and Jordan’s relationship. And stop bringing up Aaron. It doesn’t add anything to the show, and it’s so awkward to ask if he’s coming to their wedding. I’m glad the couple said how hard it is to not have others back them up, but you know what? I think they’ll be fine for now, especially because they’re moving in together. I get that the show wants headlines, but it’s so uncomfortable for Jojo to go through that.

Okay. So that ends my rant on that. Let’s get to paradise. Or should we go ahead and call it Sarahdise again because she was awesome. Let’s break down the few couples that formed before the Chad bear took over.

Vinny and Izzy: Okay, Vinny got way more attractive and has a great personality. Who knew? Izzy is also a sweetheart. Who knew? They were barely shown in their seasons, but I’m liking this pairing already. To me, they’re a couple that could last a long time.

Amanda and Nick: Josh Murray is coming onto the show, but I think Amanda and Nick would make a better pairing. Nick came off totally charming and normal in this episode, whereas Josh had some douche vibes in the previews. The producers are totally gonna play up the Josh vs Nick dynamic since they were rivals in Andi’s season. Poor Andi is gonna be watching with her glass of wine and her Twitter feed up.

Carly and Evan: These two were talking for a hot second so maybe something happens? But Evan really annoys me with his constant instigating with Chad.

Jubilee and Jared: These two are just friends. Was it just me or did Jared look so bored as soon as he got to paradise? Anyway, they came off as more of buddies than anything else. I still adore Jubilee so hopefully she finds someone.

Chad and Lace: What a trainwreck. I will say it’s interesting that Lace equally played a part in their outburst, but only Chad got the heat. I’m not saying it was undeserved. I mean Chad is really funny when he’s drunk, but he’s also volatile and rude. His comment to Sarah had me going nuts. I’m glad he apologized on Twitter because that comment about her arm was absurd.

Daniel, the Twins and Sara: So I grouped them together because Sara brought up a great point about the misogyny on the show. First of all, I know the Bachelor franchise is supposed to be all in fun or whatever, but I hate the way some of the women are portrayed on the show. They make the twins look dumb and objectify them by grouping them as a unit. It’s honestly so terrible tied in with Daniel’s comments about women as well by calling them poodles and yorkies.

Anyway, that’s all my thoughts on the episode. I’m excited to finally get to the couples. I really can’t wait to see Wells, Caila, Ashley I, and of course, Josh Murray to arrive because they’ll definitely stir up some drama.

The Men Tell All Recap

The Men Tell All was on a Tuesday this season, and honestly, nothing crazy happened. It was an underwhelming episode, but we did get some good moments. Here were some highlights from the episode.

  • Chad was great television. Jojo was right. He loves that the episode focused on him for a good portion of the show. I mean, he got his own entrance and that staged scene with him in the trailer. He got his own meat platter.  The thing is that I love Chad’s personality sometimes. He just never takes himself seriously, which is hilarious. His “Thank you Wells. I love you,” was so funny. Love him or hate him, he was a pretty funny dude.
  • Evan looked ridiculous when Chad was right about the shirt pulling video. Honestly, it was about time someone call out Alex and Evan for instigating Chad all of the time. It was way more annoying than anything Chad ever did. Alex picking on Derek was one of the pettiest things I’ve seen all season.
  • Luke was set up perfectly to be the next bachelor. It’s between Luke and Chase, but I think Luke seems to be an audience favorite.
  • Chase confronting Jojo was so sweet. Man, if I was on the show, I’d have Chase, Luke, Wells and James in my final four and would probably choose Chase.XD There were some great guys this season overall.
  • That being said, there were several guys that irritated me including Evan, Alex, Grant and a very attention seeking Santa.
  • The bloopers were pretty funny as always, but I wanted more.
  • We got a sneak peek of Bachelor in Paradise. Amanda and Nick get together, which I’m stoked about. Chad and Lace look to be a total mess. Daniel is back with his buddy Chad. Grant looked like a douche. Caila and Jared get together. And let’s talk about Ashley and Wells. I’m already in love with this pairing because she seems to finally be over Jared. I’ve always liked Ashley and hope she finds someone.

The Bachelorette Review: 50 Closest Friends

The Bachelorette came back with hometown dates. First let me say that hometown dates are usually the most boring episodes from the past, but this one was actually pretty descent. Here are my thoughts on each of Jojo’s suitors.

Jordan: Jordan’s date was pretty drama free. Everything seemed to go right. Why did Jojo bring up Aaron so much? And why were there two extra chairs at dinner? Besides that, I think  it’s very clear that Jojo seemed the most giddy for this hometown date. Was it just me? Also, Jojo continues to show how scared she was, and continues to drop Ben’s name all the time.

Luke: Luke’s date was with 50 of his closest friends, which sounded as ridiculous as it seemed. The problem with this date was that it wasn’t intimate compared to the other dates. We didn’t get to see Jojo have moments with Luke’s mother, and who knows, maybe that was edited out. What we got more of was Luke’s amazing grand gesture. They have a kiss at sunset and he leads her to a candlelit path with petals in the shape of a heart. However, Jojo is all about words of affirmation rather than grand gestures, so it almost appeared as though Chase mustering up the courage to whisper he’s falling in love was more than Luke’s gesture. So when Jojo told the producers she wanted to send home Luke, I bet another producer told Luke she was questioning him and told him to tell her before it’s too late. You know, for added drama.

Chase: I have such a weird crush on Chase. He’s so handsome and honestly very genuine. For some people, he might not show as much emotion, but it’s better than the forced I love yous we get from other guys. His crying seemed very real, and I believe he really is falling for Jojo. I was almost sure that Chase was going home going into the episode but pleasantly surprised by how well he came off.

Robby: So more than ever this season, we’re getting these bits where the media comes into play. This time, it seemed a little more legit than the magazine stunt. Robby’s mom basically says that his ex’s roommate said he broke up with his girlfriend to be on television. I mean, he might have. Caila did, and she didn’t get any backlash. Regardless, I really liked how Jojo handled it. She made it very clear that she doesn’t want to be a rebound and Robby assured her that it wasn’t the case.

So anyway, we’re getting two episodes on Monday and Tuesday. If anything, I think Luke will still go home, and with the way they edited him tonight, I think we know who the next bachelor will be. The Men Tell All will definitely be interesting. I’m cool with Luke being the bachelor as long as he provides us with that humor he does every so often.

Also, if you loved Jojo’s gorgeous rose ceremony dress, here are the details: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-style/news/bachelorette-jojo-fletchers-blue-mermaid-rose-ceremony-dress-all-the-details-w429802http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-style/news/bachelorette-jojo-fletchers-blue-mermaid-rose-ceremony-dress-all-the-details-w429802

The Bachelorette Review: Alex is the New Chad

This episode was pretty boring. I’m going to recap the episode and rather than list my top 5, I’ll put my thoughts on everyone since there were only eight people anyway.

Photo from Jojo’s Instagram

Jordan: Jordan and Jojo. She just likes him so much. I didn’t mind Jordan at all in this episode. I’m just wondering if Jojo does pick him, what is the narrative? The edit isn’t exactly showing a love story.

Luke: I  think Luke would be a great choice for Jojo because he seems genuine when he’s with Jojo, but I also like the scenes when we get a glimpse of his personality. His “Are you guys going to kiss?” moment was actually really funny, as well as his “So where are we going next week?”

Robby: Robby is another guy who would be great for Jojo. He came out of nowhere, but it would be interesting if Jojo chose someone who wasn’t edited into the show until recently. Even tonight, we barely saw them together, but they both seem confident about their relationship.

James: Oh, James. I really love how humble James is. He didn’t have to throw Jordan under the bus because he’s got a great personality. Jojo isn’t going to pick

Chase/ Derrek: This two on one was really hilarious in a cringeworthy way. I really like Chase, but he is a little hard to read. He puts together these cute mini dates for Jojo, so I’m not sure why he needed to express anything so blatantly like Jojo wanted. Derrek’s crying was edited in such a ridiculous way.

Wells: Wells is such a sweetheart, but clearly not a match for Jojo. I’d love to see him in paradise.

Alex: Why did Jojo keep Alex? There’s no way she’s picking him. He’s constantly instigating everyone.

Other Random Thoughts:

  • I’m loving Jojo’s style. Her black dress with the leather jacket was so cute. Her blue cocktail dress was also stunning.
  • Lauren and Ben are getting a reality show. I love them, but what could it be about?
  • Derrek is going to have memes with that limo scene.

The Bachelorette: Chad Overload

I’ve been in London for the past week so here is my recap for the past three episodes.

1-on-1 Dates:

Derrick: Derrick was the first one on one of the season, and he had a great showing. I liked that he made an effort to be decisive with each choice he was given. I had no idea there was even a Derrick after the first episode but he made a great first impression.

James Taylor:  James is awesome. I love how genuine and sweet he is with Jojo. I loved how outgoing and grateful he seemed during their entire date. The more he is shown the more I like him. That being said, I don’t think Jojo is going to end up with him. I would love it if she did pick him, but I don’t see that happening.

Luke: Luke is someone Jojo really likes just based on body language for the first couple of episodes. When they finally sat down for their date, Luke was so open and honest with Jojo. I really like them together, and see him going very far.

Chase: Chase is also another stand up guy. I loved the mini snow date at the cocktail party and when they went on their date, I really warmed up to him.

Power Rankings:

  1. Jordan– OK, it’s so obvious Jojo loves this guy. She’s already pressuring him for all this validation. She needs it from him because she just loves him. Kaitlyn did it with Shawn and Andi did it with Josh. Now Jojo is doing it.
  2. Luke
  3. Chase
  4. James T.
  5. Robby– Robby is someone I didn’t really think about until last night’s episode where Jojo said she felt comfortable with him even though she didn’t really know him.

Chad

Chad gets his own little section on my blog because he was just that much of a character. In episode 2, I actually didn’t mind him. He was pretty hilarious with the West Side Story comment and his commentary during the rose ceremony is gold.

He was also kind of right about saying he’s not going to say he’s falling for Jojo, when he doesn’t even know her. Did he go about it in the right way? Not really, but from Jojo’s perspective, she sees this guy is is being polarizing with how honest he is and she is intrigued by it. Additionally, when he does say he had feelings for Jojo, it’s more believable.

Now in episode 3 and 4, I can’t defend him…at all. The violent threats were absolutely ridiculous.  In what world is violent threats going to look good on television? His self-awareness flew out the window when he grabbed Evan’s shirt. Now I do think the constant pestering from Alex and Evan was a bit too much, but to say he’s going to beat up people is absurd. Now we wait for the epic conclusion of the Chad Saga.

Other Thoughts:

  • Chad’s eating habits at the cocktail party is literally me at any function.
  • The Jojo song had me dying. The bromance is real in the house.
  • That being said, who’s going to be the next villain? The house really bonded with their anti-Chad pact, but he’s gone now.
  • Chad explaining his protein shake analogy was really great.
  • I’m going to miss Chad. 😦
  • Wells was adorable. I think he’s a lock for Bachelor in Paradise. James too.
  • I think if Chase doesn’t win, he’d be a solid Bachelor.
  • Jojo is killing it when it comes to the fashion on the show.
