Quote of the Day: Debating About Destiny

Today’s quote is from one of my favorite Selena Gomez’s song “Back to You.” For years, I never believed in destiny. I thought everything just happened randomly. But the past few years have changed my mindset a lot. I think everything happens for a reason, and if something is meant to be, it’ll happen.

Obviously there are exceptions with that. You’re not going to get a dream job by simply waiting or sitting on the couch, but if for some reason, you end up in a certain city or if someone comes into your life, I think it happens for a reason. And if somehow, you hate the city you’re in or things don’t work out with someone, start thinking about why this occurrence is happening to you. People are either a blessing or a lesson in your life.

So why do I love this song so much? I just love that despite everything that might happen with someone, you know you’ll somehow come back to each other whether it takes weeks or years. And if they don’t, then it wasn’t meant to be. Again, obviously there are exceptions, but having this sort of mindset that everything happens for a reason has not only made me happier, but also content with my past.

I’m curious what people think so if you agree or disagree, feel free to comment below!

Summer Profile: Chasity Shyenne

IMG_9019.jpg

Meet Chasity Shyenne. She is a fashion model, entrepreneur and influencer. On top of all this, she has created her own Youtube channel. where she films beauty and lifestyle videos. I got the chance to do a little Q&A with her, and I recommend everyone to check out her channel!

1) What inspired you to start a YouTube channel?

What inspired me to start my own YouTube was watching my favorite YouTuber Bethany Mota. She really got me inspired of making home videos and seeing that YouTube helped her with her own first clothing line by partnering with Aeropostale made me want to really start my own channel!

2) If someone could only watch one of your videos, which one would it be and why?

I would pick the mixed girl tag video just because I am mix with black and white and a lot of people just don’t understand what us mix kids go through we can’t decide on just which side to stand up for because both of our parents are different race and for example, filling out a job application, they don’t have mixed as an option. They have black or white, so which one do you pick? If I picked white, they are going to expect to see a fully white women or if I picked black, they are going to expect to see a fully darker skin complexion not a mix girl with hazel eyes and curly hair. The struggle is real.

Check out her video here:

3) Describe your style in three words.

Comfy, fashionable, outgoing

4) I loved your wishlist video. What’s on your summer/fall wishlist right now?

My summer and fall wishlist is to enjoy the outdoors more because nature is really pretty! Also changing up my style for each of the season.

5) What is your life motto?

My life motto is a little quote from a Chris Brown song that I always use. “ I work too hard to be balling on a budget.” I know I’m not rich, but I love nice things so I shouldn’t have to dream about wanting those things when I put a lot of my energy into my job and not rewarding myself afterwards.

Summer Profile: Ruthy Gascot

Meet Ruthy Gascot:

Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York has given me the opportunity to mix styles. When we think of New York City, we automatically think of Manhattan, but have you heard Brooklyn is the new Manhattan? Brooklyn is a diamond in the rough and that’s how I like to think in regards to my style. Much of my style is influenced by my mother who is my #1 fashion icon and the streets of Brooklyn. I like to hide behind clothes and show my self with style. Spread love is the Brooklyn way.

1) Describe your style in three words

Short, sweet, shy

2) What’s your ideal summer vacay?

Sipping piña colada by a pool

3) What’s your typical coffee order?

Light and sweet

4) Why is fashion important to you?

Fashion is important to me because I can express myself through my wardrobe when I can’t find the words.

5) What’s your fashion motto?

Break the rules. If you feel happy and confident, it will show through your energy and attitude.

Quote of the Day

Too many times in life, people put their happiness on a pedestal. They say “Once, I get through A, B, and C, I’ll be happy.” Others do it without realizing. They can’t wait until the weekend. They say “I can’t wait to leave this job, or this school,” or whatever stage they’re trying to surpass. Part of success and happiness is the journey that leads up to it. People spend too much time focusing on the future to truly appreciate the present. Life is too short to be taken so seriously, so remember to appreciate the little moments in each day.

Wedding Jumpsuit OOTD

This is an outfit I wore for a wedding. This is a jumpsuit from H&M that I got on sale for $25.00. This is a length I’ve never worn before, and the ruffle top is very bold, so I was hesitant to wear something like this, but it definitely stood out in a sea of dresses.

I used to be so worried about taking risks with fashion and “standing out too much” but if you love what you’re wearing and own your look, then rock your outfit with confidence. I’ve learned over the years that if you act unphased by people’s opinions, that you can truly be yourself.

Summer Steals & Daisy Detailing

Here’s a summery shirt I wore the other day. It’s a simple tie button up with a polka dot and daisy print, and it was only $7 from H&M. I’m really loving these lightweight button up tops for the summer, especially the shorts sleeves cuffed blouses I’ve been seeing everywhere. You can wear them casually with ripped denim shorts or dress it up with a pair of low rise trousers.
