The Bachelor Review: Januarie Begins

So begins another season of The Bachelor. To be honest, I don’t have a ton of thoughts on the premiere because it felt pretty formulaic, and nothing really stood out. That being said, I struggled to come up with five girls that stood out, but here’s my initial thoughts on who Arie likes.

Chelsea: Chelsea looks a lot like Olivia from Ben’s season, and she kind of reminded me of Emily too. She was definitely the most polarizing person this episode. I’m going to defend her a bit though. She seems like she has a dry sense of humor and that might not translate well on screen. As a journalist myself, I’ve had people film vlogs and multimedia projects where my sarcasm isn’t totally clear. So I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Bekah: Bekah seems like a chill chick. She presented herself really well and I loved her talk with Arie when they were sitting on the car. I loved when they were talking about liking each other and she was all like “So far, I like what I see from you.” You can tell she doesn’t put him on a pedestal, and he came off like the more nervous one.

Becca: Becca had a solid night and she reminded me a little bit of Vanessa. She had a cute moment with Arie, but it was kind of just a glimpse. It looks like she might get the first one-on- one date too

Tia: Tia is in the same boat as Becca. She had a pretty good night, and she seems like she’ll go far based on her package in the very beginning of the episode.

Krystal: Krystal’s voice drove me a little crazy in all honesty, but I mean Arie was all into it so good for her for playing that up. She’s beautiful, and she seemed pretty poised all night so I’m going to have her as my dark horse.

Other random thoughts

  •  I will say Arie came off really nervous whereas I think while both Ben and Nick were nervous, their priority was to make the women feel comfortable, and I’m not sure if Arie did that. Again, it’s a lot of pressure and he probably had a billion thoughts going through his head.
  • LOL at Bekah saying “You’re excited for excitement?”
  • Sean must be sick of being one of the only two success stories from The Bachelor. He can never catch a break.
  • It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about the show. I’ve been busy with school and work. I missed an entire season of BIP recaps, but I’m back and ready to cover this season.

The Bachelor Blog: 27 Red Dresses

The Bachelor is back, and I’m late with my review already! Here are my top 5 after episode 1, along with some other random thoughts.

Rachel: Rachel reminds me so much of Andi, and Nick has always liked strong independent women, so it’s no surprise he liked Rachel because she gives off a very put together and confident attitude in the limited time she has with Nick. They had a very easygoing conversation, and her red dress didn’t get in the way of the first impression rose.

Vanessa: I really like Vanessa already. I feel like I’d be friends with her in real life. She just seems very genuine and her and Nick had a nice connection. Nick also said “She’s a keeper,” which is way more of a compliment in all honesty than saying she’s pretty or cute.

Danielle L: Danielle is someone who I’ll put as my dark horse. She’s beautiful and came off really well in the first episode.

Corinne: Corinne said about thirty things that made me cringe in the first episode. She seems like such a great villain. Olivia was always somewhat likable in Ben’s season, so it’s always nice to have a villain that just makes the show more entertaining. She’s aggressive and I’m 100 percent positive that Nick will consider the fact that he was painted a villain in his season if the other women say she’s no good.

Sarah: Sarah was the girl that ran up in sneakers as the “runner up” and although most of the intro corniness makes me want to barf, I thought it was pretty cute. She also wore that really pretty lavender gown.

Other Thoughts

  • I don’t know what’s worse, that the shark wore her costume all night or that she’s 23 years old going on the show.
  • Haley might be better off with Daniel/
  • The girls needed to chill with the red dresses. It’s the Bachelor, not prom.
  • OK, regarding the Liz thing. It seemed super awkward. When she explained herself, it really didn’t make sense when they were talking, but maybe that was just nerves. The whole exchange between them seemed a bit forced. I will defend her for a second though because I could completely understand the idea that she thought it would be exciting to see him again. Poor girl is getting beat up on Twitter, but I get where she’s coming from.
  • How the heck did Olivia not make it? She came in with the fur coat and was so charming.
  • Jimmy Kimmel had both Andi, Kaitlyn and Nick on the show, and man was it awkward!
  • It looks like a drama packed season, and I’m stoked.
  • I’m curious to know what others think of the whole Liz thing so comment below!

The Bachelorette Review: From Thailand to Paradise

Zoe Chicco Earrings

Before I get to my review, check out these Zoe Chicco Earrings that Jojo wore on her People cover. Also, for details on her finale dress click here.

So I’ve got a ton to recap, including the finale of The Bachelorette as well as the first episode of Paradise. So for starters, let’s talk about Jojo and her finale episode. I mean for a dramatic finale, I don’t really have much to say. Jojo and Jordan are happy together, and Robby will be just fine. Luke’s looking to be the next bachelor.

We do have to talk about something that made me super annoyed though. I do have to give Jojo some credit because she handled the After the Final Rose like a champ. So back in Kaitlyn’s season, she got all this hate because she slept with Nick, and Chris Harrison made sure he told everyone it wasn’t okay. In other words, he had her back for the most part and supported her relationship with Shawn.

With Jojo, I was so annoyed with the questions she got concerning her relationship with Jordan. Did you guys ever consider breaking up? Has there been roadblocks? Will Aaron be coming to the wedding? I mean come on. The questions he asked were clearly trying to paint a negative picture of Jojo and Jordan’s relationship. And stop bringing up Aaron. It doesn’t add anything to the show, and it’s so awkward to ask if he’s coming to their wedding. I’m glad the couple said how hard it is to not have others back them up, but you know what? I think they’ll be fine for now, especially because they’re moving in together. I get that the show wants headlines, but it’s so uncomfortable for Jojo to go through that.

Okay. So that ends my rant on that. Let’s get to paradise. Or should we go ahead and call it Sarahdise again because she was awesome. Let’s break down the few couples that formed before the Chad bear took over.

Vinny and Izzy: Okay, Vinny got way more attractive and has a great personality. Who knew? Izzy is also a sweetheart. Who knew? They were barely shown in their seasons, but I’m liking this pairing already. To me, they’re a couple that could last a long time.

Amanda and Nick: Josh Murray is coming onto the show, but I think Amanda and Nick would make a better pairing. Nick came off totally charming and normal in this episode, whereas Josh had some douche vibes in the previews. The producers are totally gonna play up the Josh vs Nick dynamic since they were rivals in Andi’s season. Poor Andi is gonna be watching with her glass of wine and her Twitter feed up.

Carly and Evan: These two were talking for a hot second so maybe something happens? But Evan really annoys me with his constant instigating with Chad.

Jubilee and Jared: These two are just friends. Was it just me or did Jared look so bored as soon as he got to paradise? Anyway, they came off as more of buddies than anything else. I still adore Jubilee so hopefully she finds someone.

Chad and Lace: What a trainwreck. I will say it’s interesting that Lace equally played a part in their outburst, but only Chad got the heat. I’m not saying it was undeserved. I mean Chad is really funny when he’s drunk, but he’s also volatile and rude. His comment to Sarah had me going nuts. I’m glad he apologized on Twitter because that comment about her arm was absurd.

Daniel, the Twins and Sara: So I grouped them together because Sara brought up a great point about the misogyny on the show. First of all, I know the Bachelor franchise is supposed to be all in fun or whatever, but I hate the way some of the women are portrayed on the show. They make the twins look dumb and objectify them by grouping them as a unit. It’s honestly so terrible tied in with Daniel’s comments about women as well by calling them poodles and yorkies.

Anyway, that’s all my thoughts on the episode. I’m excited to finally get to the couples. I really can’t wait to see Wells, Caila, Ashley I, and of course, Josh Murray to arrive because they’ll definitely stir up some drama.

The Bachelorette Review: Damn Daniel

Here’s my top five after last night.

Luke: I think his entrance was endearing with the unicorn. It was a grand entrance, but it had meaning behind it. He also seems quieter than most of the guys, which hopefully means no drama for the season. He was favorite from the night.

Jordan: Jordan is clearly the frontrunner right now. He and Jojo had an instant attraction, and she seemed comfortable talking to him already. He is going to go really far, but that connection might fade like most first impression rose contestants have had in the past. I think all the guys are going to be super jealous.

Chase: I’m going to pick someone who wasn’t really featured in this episode because Ben wasn’t really featured in Kaitlyn’s season until a few episodes in. I also looked at the bios, and thought Jojo would like him based simply on his photo and picture.

James T.: Personality wise, I loved James. He was endearing when he was talking to Jojo. Jojo seems to fall for bad boys, and he doesn’t really fit that mold. Maybe he’ll be like the Jared of the season, where you’re surprised how far he comes.

Wells: I really liked his personality and he looked better than he did in his bio. I don’t think he’ll be Jojo’s pick, but I’m already thinking about Bachelor in Paradise.

Other Random Thoughts:

  • Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Nick V. surprised everyone by being the man under the Saint Nick costume? XD
  • I didn’t realize hobbies can be occupations: Hipster? Superfan?
  • Speaking of Superfan, he came to the rescue when no one knew who Jake Pavelka was.
  • Chad was a great narrator tonight.
  • Daniel was everything. He was awkward, drunk and jumped into the pool. He was such a mess, and I loved him.
  • I actually liked the scene with Ali, Des and Kaitlyn because they gave some solid advice.

My Thoughts on The Bachelor

I haven’t blogged about the rest of this season of The Bachelor because I was very busy with school, but I decided to do a recap of all my thoughts. The last episode I recapped was when Leah and Lauren H. went home so I have a  lot of thoughts mainly on the Women Tell All and the finale episode.

  • Women Tell All: Jubilee really shined here. She’s well-spoken, beautiful and unique. I couldn’t believe Amber and Jami’s attack on her. It was unnecessary drama. I really wish Jubilee was the next bachelorette, but I think she’s too polarizing as a character this season. I personally loved her. She’d be great for paradise. Amanda was really classy too. She didn’t talk much, but she was really great about calling out Olivia and then forgiving her. OK- I actually really liked Olivia in this episode. People can say what they want about her self-awareness. She really stood up for herself and I’m glad that she brought up the bullying she got this season because she didn’t deserve that. After the Women Tell All, here are some people who I think will be asked to be on paradise: Jubilee, Jami, Leah, Olivia(if she would do it), Amanda(again, not sure if she would do it), Caila, Tiara(she’s awesome btw)and the twins.
  • The Finale: The producers very clearly set up the audience to think Ben picks Jojo. I had a feeling he’d still pick Lauren because it was so clear all season. I couldn’t believe the bathroom scene with Ben. I’m not sure why he said all those reassurances to her when he was going to break up with her the next day. The finale was very emotional. It was a different kind of drama, where the feelings are just so intense. Ben telling both girls he loved them really vamped up the drama.
  • The Dresses and Proposal: I personally liked Lauren’s dress more. The color really popped and I love how simple it was. Jojo’s was gorgeous as well, but I would’ve liked it in a different color. Also, Cary Fetman put up their backup dresses on Instagram. I think Lauren made the right choice. I like Jojo’s backup more but in hindsight, I’m not sure if she would’ve wanted to wear it for a breakup.

  • The Bachelorette: I’m so happy they switched from Caila to Jojo( at least, that was the rumors online). I think Jojo got a lot of social media love. I like Caila and she’s sweet, but I don’t know if she’s dynamic enough to carry a whole show. Jojo is so eloquent and she’s funny enough to be relatable to women.

During the final rose ceremony, Lauren and Jojo both wore Suzanne Kalan earrings. Lauren also wore Suzanne Kalan during the after the final rose special. Here’s a link to their website:

  • Lauren and Ben:  Lauren and Ben make a great couple. I think they’re a great match and that they’ll survive. I also think they’re not the Hollywood type of couple that wants to become famous so that works in their favor. Good luck to them!

The Bachelor Review:

After the last episode, here’s my top 5, along with other random thoughts.

Caila: Caila is exactly like I thought she was going to be. She’s the perfect amount of sweet and fun for Ben. She handled Kevin Hart and Ice Cube well, and just rolled with the punches. Her conversation with Ben about her last boyfriend was great. She was able to articulate that she was trying to catch up to the story of how they met.

Lauren B: I loved her yellow dress. We don’t know much about her, other than the fact that she’s a flight attendant, but Ben makes it very clear that she’s someone to watch despite having no dates.

Jojo: Jojo really broke out tonight. She seemed like the voice of reason during the group date (until she couldn’t figure out where Indiana was) and then Ben stole her and they had a classic “rooftop” moment that reminded me of Chris and Des.

Amanda: Amanda told Ben she has two kids, and she was able to open up more. She’s sweet, but was very upset over Olivia’s behavior. I was surprised when Amanda said Olivia was getting inside her head. She needs to be a little more confident.

Jubilee: Jubilee and Ben had a great moment. I think he’s very intrigued by her story. She seems like a very strong person and I liked her scenes during episode 2. It looks like next week is going to be drama though.

  • It was actually pretty rude of Olivia to try to kiss Ben, knowing that the girls were watching the screen. I also didn’t include Olivia in my top 5 because I think she’s going to crash and burn.
  • Lace and Olivia’s conversation was hilarious. How much time does Lace need with Ben?
  • I love Shushanna. I wish we got more of her.
  • I don’t know what was funnier, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart or Olivia’s facial expressions.
  • Jade and Tanner are getting married really soon. That’s pretty early, but then again, they got engaged in a matter of three weeks.
  • This cast reminds me of last season. Olivia= Britt, Jojo= Carly, Lace= Ashley S., Becca= Becca, and Amber=Amber.
