Bachelor Finale & Winter Games Thoughts

So I fell asleep halfway through Arie’s season only to be completed bombarded with the intense finale that left me even shocked. It was crazy enough that he told two women that he loved them, so I initially thought he picked Lauren and just had a really ugly breakup with Becca before the proposal. But after seeing him propose to Becca, I knew there must be more to the story considering we had another two hours the following day.

Watching the first half wasn’t a total snooze fest. We got to feel even more bad for Becca when Arie’s dad basically said “You know either choice is just fine with me.” Then she had to sit through endless comparisons to Lauren.

To me, this was totally like a Jason Mesnick and Ben Higgins mashup finale.

It reminded me of Ben’s season because Becca reminded me a lot of Jojo and Lauren B. reminded me of well Lauren B. He told both girls he loved them leaving both of the finalists confident he’ll pick them. It really reminds me of Jason’s season for obvious reasons, but also because Lauren and Molly were both the risks, while Becca and Melissa seemed more of a sure thing because of how transparent they were on the show.

When it came to the breakup with Becca, it was so brutal to watch. Arie wanted to film it so that viewers knew it was his fault, which is OK I guess. I mean if we didn’t see it, it would be all he said, she said. What isn’t OK was his nonchalant nature about the breakup. He said they were “hanging out.” Umm Arie? You two are engaged. And poor Becca thought he was asking to date both of them, while Arie just wanted her to get the hint that he wanted to break up with her for Lauren.

I think the fact that he felt so torn is a huge red flag. Another red flag is the fact that he slid into Lauren’s DMs and apparently Bekah M.’s too. Arie is 36 years old. This is some immature behavior just based on the facts. Do I hope Arie and Lauren last? Of course! If Lauren is Arie’s person, then none of this trivial stuff should get into the way. And Lauren is a sweetheart, so none of the hate should come her way. It was all Arie’s actions.

Becca is one tough woman. She endured their breakup with such class, and she didn’t even give Arie the satisfaction of giving him a hug and sort of leaving things on a “good note” which is exactly why he stayed for a long time after. Their breakup was so authentic and she still handled it so well. I’m so happy that she was announced as the next Bachelorette. Some people think she’ll be boring, but she seems like someone many women can relate to. She’s a girl’s girl, and you can tell when all the girls from her season all gave her hugs and cried with happiness.  Oh and out of the guys they brought up to the stage? The last guy with the horse was  my favorite.

Overall, I think this season will leave people talking merely because of the finale’s twist. It wasn’t an amazing season, but you know what made it a little better? The Bachelor Winter Games. Some people might’ve hated it, but I liked this show so much because the couples seemed way more authentic. Dean and Lesley are surprisingly adorable. Lesley is so sure of herself and broke down exactly the man Dean needs to be for her. I’m beyond stoked that Ashley found someone like Kevin. Courtney and Lily were like the high school sweethearts of the show, and Clare and Benoit were the surprise couple to form after filming. The show was a hit in my book, and it made me love characters like Yuki and Ben.

That’s my Bachelor wrap up for the season. I’m so pumped to see Becca in a few months.

The Bachelor Recap: What Just Happened?

I had to watch the episode a bit late, but all my friends told me it was really good drama, and they were right. This episode was so funny and ridiculous. Krystal was crazy. Savage Arie is starting to come out, and Tia stole my heart. Here’s my top 5 frontrunner list for this episode.

Chelsea: Chelsea is one of my favorites this season, and I’m glad I wasn’t quick to judge her even during the first episode. Her date with Arie was super sweet, and they have a good chemistry.

Lauren B: OK, Chelsea and Arie have a good chemistry, but I thought Lauren and Arie’s time together was actually really cute and proved they had even better chemistry together. The game was silly, but it made for them to get to know each other a bit better. I can see Lauren going far after this episode.

Becca K.: Becca got to go to Arie’s room, and she was getting a little worried after feeling like her date was a long time ago. I still think she’s a frontrunner. She’ll probably have a second date in the next couple of episodes.

Tia: Tia and Arie had such a good time together on their date. I kind of wish they didn’t pigeon hole her into this date. Like why couldn’t she have a glamorous date like most of the girls have had so far?

Kendall: Kendall is one of a kind, and she owns it, which is why Arie probably likes her sort of weirdness.

Thoughts on Krystal:

  • Usually I have thoughts on the episode as a whole, but let’s delve into everything that was Krystal. First off, thank you Krystal. She provided the most entertaining two hours of television for me in a while.
  • I mean Krystal went wrong when she didn’t accept responsibility for throwing her little fit.  She just kept making excuses. I feel like if she apologized and just said “You know what guys, I was out of line,” things would’ve been fine. I think Arie is started seeing that sort of manipulative side to her, so she should be leaving sometime soon. We’ll see!
  • Krystal had so many crazy quotes this episode. The glitter one made me laugh because she was so serious when she said it. I thought she was being pretty childish throughout the episode by throwing a fit to get Arie’s attention. I thought the way everyone went about Krystal was interesting.
  • I actually liked Kendall pulling her aside and talking to her so calmly. As much as I love Bekah, I actually didn’t like how she egged on Krystal. She was instigating a lot of the drama too, and I sort of felt like her age was showing a bit in this episode.
  • I think Arie handled the whole thing really well. I’m glad he went up to talk to her before the cocktail party because I mean, she was talking crap about him specifically, so of course, he’d want to get that out of the way, so he can focus on the girls rather than having it hang over the night. All in all, Arie did a solid job this episode, except when he licked the ball. That was gross.
  • I cannot wait until the next episode. They’re going to Paris, which is actually really cool, so I’m excited to see what’s to come.
  • Oh my last thought: Jenna- She was drunk the entire episode. The entire time maybe. It made me laugh so hard.

The Bachelor Recap: Take a Hike

This episode featured a ton of drama between the girls, mostly involving Krystal. The women got to pack their bags for Tahoe, and there were two solo dates and one awkward group date. Here’s my picks for the top 5 this week, along with some thoughts.

Becca K.: Becca barely had any airtime, but she seems like she’s pretty cordial with everyone and avoids all the drama in the house. I still think she’s going far.

Bekah M.: Bekah is the front runner in my mind. Arie and Bekah had a crazy date, where she revealed her age. I think Arie liked her enough to give her a chance, but I can tell Arie needed some time to probably process everything.

Seinne: Seinne is awesome, and I think she should be the next Bachelorette provided she gets that far. I think she carried the entire date really well, and she was actually bringing out such a good side of Arie. Seeing them on their date made me like Arie a lot more too.

Tia: Tia is a firecracker for sure, and she reminds me so much of Jojo and Raven. I think Arie really likes Tia too, and it showed despite the drama surrounding her.

Kendall: Kendall is such a quirky chick. That’s probably why I like her so much. She’s confident and owns her weirdness, which is why I think Arie kind of digs her.

Other Thoughts:

  • With all the drama going on, I mostly agreed with Caroline and Tia. I mean Krystal literally called herself flawless. But I didn’t like when Tia didn’t even look at Krystal when she asked to speak with them. That was a bit mean girl for me.
  • I like Chelsea the more and more I see her. The glam shaming bit at the end was hilarious.
  • Arie did a great job in this episode. I was so hard on him for my past recaps, but I actually liked how he handled everything.
  • These group dates are rough. The hiking date looked like another nightmare with the girls not knowing where to go.

The Bachelor: Bekah with the Short Hair

Here’s my thoughts on episode 3 of The Bachelor, along with my top 5 based on the episode. Also, find out which former bachelor is dating a celebrity below. It was surprising to me for sure!

Bekah: Bekah has such memorable moments with Arie, and she really brings out his personality. I absolutely love when she called him out on being afraid of women who are much more independent. It makes a lot of sense in all honesty, and she managed to come off more cheeky than confrontational, which was great on her part. She’s way too good for this show.

Becca K.: Becca and Arie come off as the most boyfriend/girlfriend in this episode when they had their one on one time. I love the little moment when she called him a dork too.

Chelsea: I don’t mind Chelsea as much as others do. I really think Arie likes Chelsea a lot. I mean you can easily tell who he’s into and she’s one of the few he really likes.

Tia: Honestly, she reminds me so much of Raven, and I want to be friends with her. Tia comes off so well throughout the episode, whether she’s narrating or spending her time with Arie. I think she’s awesome.

Lauren B.: I could see Lauren being a dark horse after this episode. Not much to say so far, but I feel like Arie’s into her based on body language.

Other thoughts

  • Bibiana, Annaliese and Lauren S. went home. I really liked all three of these girls, so it was disappointing to see them all go.
  • I’m enjoying this season, but mostly because of the women bringing the drama. I don’t think Arie is really good at making the girls feel comfortable. Poor Analiese turned into a mess, but it was sort of justified considering how cringe worthy and cold Arie was toward her.
  • The Napa Valley date and Rachel Zoe date were both dream dates. The group dates on the other hand are total nightmares. I would not want to be on the wrestling or the derby date, and the dog show just seemed pointless.
  • I loved seeing Kenny back on the show! Speaking of the Bachelor franchise, how crazy do the winter games look? I’m pumped to see all my favorites back.
  • Nick Viall is dating January Jones? WHAT! I mean good for Nick if he is. It’s just surprising to hear. I know she expressed how much she loved the show on a talk show before, but wow!
  • OK, the last piece of news that I have is that there are rumors that the Bachelor producers want to do a trio wedding of Rachel and Bryan, Jojo and Jordan and Shawn and Kaitlyn. First off, I’m obsessed with Kaitlyn and Shawn, so I’d be most pumped to see them wed, but also secondly, how awesome is the Bachelorette track record? Three in a row that seem to be heading to success stories. Good for them!

The Bachelor Recap: Dream Date & Derby

I was super impressed with the second episode, so here are my thoughts on my top 5 front runners, along with some other thoughts on the episode.

Becca: Becca seems like a great fit for Arie. Her date was a dream date for a girl. I mean she got all those dresses plus that fabulous looking spread of food. It was lighthearted until we finally got to the night portion, and they seem like a nice match. She had a solid one on one and she seems relatively normal and not about the drama, which is a another good sign for her.

Chelsea: Chelsea actually didn’t bother me that much. I think Arie is still very much invested in Chelsea especially when she revealed she had a son. I like that she didn’t really play games and acted coy this episode.

Bekah: Bekah and Arie had a steamy moment, and you can tell he’s really into her. They have a cute little moment when he says he wasn’t sure if she’d be into him, and it’s a funny exchange between the two. I just wonder if it’s just lust right now, but I mean Bekah has been very magnetic personality, so it has potential to turn into something more serious.

Seinne: I really love Seinne. She played her cards just right during the group date. She won the competition overall, and then she really impressed me when she was talking to Arie. She’s well-traveled, went to Yale and is really stunning. I mean if she doesn’t win, I think she’d be an awesome Bachelorette just based off this second episode.

Krystal: Krsytal annoyed me to no end in this episode, but Arie liked her a lot so I kept her in the top 5. She just doesn’t come off as genuine. I’m sure she’s sweet in real life, but on TV, she came off really condescending toward the other women. Thankfully, Queen Bibiana came through.

Other Thoughts:

  • Bibiana was a little crazy during the group date, but she totally redeemed herself when she called Krystal out for stealing everyone’s time. It was composed and fabulous, and I love her already.
  • Annaliese is hilarious. I find her super endearing, and I cannot believe how silly that sequence with the bumper cars was. It reminded me so much of the episode of Friends where Rachel is afraid to go on the swings. XD
  • Jenny was devastated to leave, but not because of Arie, no, no, she was leaving all the friends she made. That was so cringe worthy.
  • This episode was my favorite in a while! I loved the drama, and it definitely changed my attitude toward the season. I think the girls are going to be crazy, and I think Arie won’t know how to handle all these personalities, so it should be an interesting season for sure.

The Bachelor Review: Januarie Begins

So begins another season of The Bachelor. To be honest, I don’t have a ton of thoughts on the premiere because it felt pretty formulaic, and nothing really stood out. That being said, I struggled to come up with five girls that stood out, but here’s my initial thoughts on who Arie likes.

Chelsea: Chelsea looks a lot like Olivia from Ben’s season, and she kind of reminded me of Emily too. She was definitely the most polarizing person this episode. I’m going to defend her a bit though. She seems like she has a dry sense of humor and that might not translate well on screen. As a journalist myself, I’ve had people film vlogs and multimedia projects where my sarcasm isn’t totally clear. So I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Bekah: Bekah seems like a chill chick. She presented herself really well and I loved her talk with Arie when they were sitting on the car. I loved when they were talking about liking each other and she was all like “So far, I like what I see from you.” You can tell she doesn’t put him on a pedestal, and he came off like the more nervous one.

Becca: Becca had a solid night and she reminded me a little bit of Vanessa. She had a cute moment with Arie, but it was kind of just a glimpse. It looks like she might get the first one-on- one date too

Tia: Tia is in the same boat as Becca. She had a pretty good night, and she seems like she’ll go far based on her package in the very beginning of the episode.

Krystal: Krystal’s voice drove me a little crazy in all honesty, but I mean Arie was all into it so good for her for playing that up. She’s beautiful, and she seemed pretty poised all night so I’m going to have her as my dark horse.

Other random thoughts

  •  I will say Arie came off really nervous whereas I think while both Ben and Nick were nervous, their priority was to make the women feel comfortable, and I’m not sure if Arie did that. Again, it’s a lot of pressure and he probably had a billion thoughts going through his head.
  • LOL at Bekah saying “You’re excited for excitement?”
  • Sean must be sick of being one of the only two success stories from The Bachelor. He can never catch a break.
  • It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about the show. I’ve been busy with school and work. I missed an entire season of BIP recaps, but I’m back and ready to cover this season.
