My Popsugar Playground Experience

Popsugar Playground was an event that I had never heard of until my friend offered me a free ticket. It was a weekend festival that had all types of activities for women who are music lovers, fitness junkies, fashionistas; basically it is for all types of women to be in a safe space to be themselves.

It is so many things, but it all serves one purpose of empowering women. When I first walked in, there was a giant ball pit that had Popsugar written on top. Different stations were hovered around the ball pit. There were tons of brands such as Lulus, Kohl’s, Covergirl and much more beauty and fashion related names.

Each station wasn’t just a promotion. At the Lulu’s station, there was a Boomerang station with the prettiest backdrop for women to take photos. People had the opportunity to spin on a wheel to win Kohl’s cash. What I liked about the people working each station was the fact that they were more than willing to give swag and just chat for a bit rather than just have a rehearsed sales pitch.

Even cooler than the free swag we were given was the free makeovers and free manicures that were given out. You can tell the whole point of the event was the build up confidence in women. The makeup artists were super nice too and did whatever sort of look you were going for.

Here’s a little after picture of my makeover with Huda Beauty, and my makeup artist even gave me a pair of eyelashes for free. After our makeovers, we went to check out the free drinks they were giving out, which was near all the celebrity panelists.

For sure, the highlight for me was seeing Yara Shahidi from the show Grownish. She was so well-spoken and basically seemed exactly like her woke character from the show. The other celebrity panelists were stars like Kate Hudson and Mindy Kaling. It was super cool for all these inspiring women to show up to event like this. Overall, the experience was really awesome. It was the first of its kind, but to me, it seemed like it was well-organized as if they had been doing it for a while. The event ended with a performance by Tinashe, and she was really the perfect way to end the whole event.

Tickets were $80, but my friend got two tickets for free. After going, I would definitely recommend people check it out next time they have an event because the whole day is filled with tons of activities to do while waiting for panelists. The ball pit was also dope.

Golden Globes 2018 Favorite Looks

First off, I really loved that everyone wore black. It was a sign of solidarity, and it really gave the celebrities a platform to talk about the Time’s Up campaign. We saw several celebrities taking a stand in their acceptance speeches, and we got to witness Queen Oprah give a brilliant speech.

Katherine Langford

The 13 Reasons Why star looked absolutely dazzling for one of her first red carpet appearances. I think the embellishment serves well as a faux belt, and I’m obsessed with her hair swept to one side. Everything about this look is effortless.

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan won big for her film Lady Bird, and I was so excited for her. She’s an underrated actress in my opinion, and I happen to love a lot of her red carpet looks. I love how powerful this look comes off with it’s sleek fit and strong shoulders. Her styling is super simple, but I think that’s what makes this a winning look.

Penélope Cruz

Penelope Cruz was radiant in this off the shoulder gown. I love how she let the lace gown shine on its own. It stood out to me because it was one of the few lace dresses I spotted.Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel took a risk by wearing this jumpsuit. It’s not going to be liked by everyone, but I happen to love seeing pant suits on the red carpet. I like the lead embellishment a lot, and the white made the look stand out in a sea of black on the red carpet.

Diane Kruger

I loved this look, and I had no idea we would see Diane Kruger come on stage to accept an award, but I was stoked to see her behind one of the films. Her outfit is suck a showstopper with a tool like cape to top off an effortless looking dress. It’s luxurious and perfect for the red carpet.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner wore this incredible tool dress. It’s a bold choice, but she can definitely pull this look off.

Millie Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown is adorable and looks super sweet in this black dress. It’s so bold, and I was a little surprised to see her taking such a risk with this frilled top dress, but she is working it. Love her.

Anyway, what was everyone’s favorite look? And what was their thoughts on everyone wearing black?

Oscars Best Dressed 2017

Emma Stone’s dress was my favorite by far. I love that she went with a classic fit with an intricate design and fringe. Her whole look is very Hollywood Glamour with her refined curls and simple red lip, which is appropriate for her movie “La La Land.”

I love how luxurious this dress was. I love how the classic top was made more whimsical with a feathered skirt with embellishment.

Brie Larson looked amazing in this sculptural look. If this was in another color, it could’ve been a nightmare on the red carpet. But the black color and minimal styling makes for a very chic look.

I love this dress on Hailee Steinfeld. The floral print and chiffon material made for an ethereal feel, which was a nice change for an Oscars look. I also like that she opted for an updo. Some people might not like the dress, but I think she pulled it off well.

Olivia Culpo looked amazing in this fringed dress. Her purple eye makeup make it more modern look overall, and it was a nice little surprise to the Hollywood feel. I love the little black ribbon that ties the look together.

Best Dressed From 2017 SAG Awards

I loved these looks from the SAG awards. I liked a lot of blacks and embellishments on this particular award show.

Emma Stone was a huge winner last night, and I loved her dress. She’s been really embracing her whimsical La La Land film with quirky sort of gowns that are fun.

Amy Adams looked elegant and simple with this black form fitting gown, but my favorite part of her look is the bold necklace choice she made.

Michelle Williams looks gorgeous in this simple sequin dress. Gold and silver mixed together is a ballsy choice, but it works really well here with a minimalist fit.

Emily Blunt wore this vintage looking dress. This could’ve been a disaster with the wrong styling and fit, but her sleek hair and eye makeup makes the look feel modern.

I love how glamorous this look feels, and it still looks laid back. The red lip and tousled waves add to the relaxed vibe of her look.

This gold dress screams opulence from its fit to the pattern.

This was totally a bold choice with its color, but I personally liked how different it was in color choice.

Sofia killed it again, but instead of a form fitting dress, she opted for this feminine fit and flare dress with strappy shoes and a red lip to pop.

2017 Golden Globes Best Dressed

Here were some of my favorite looks from the 2017 Golden Globes. I loved so many looks this year but narrowed it down to the ones below. Let me know whose look was your favorite in the comments below!

I love Gina Rodriguez’s shimmery fringe. She looks fresh and fun with her hair swept to the side rather than being in an updo. It’s the perfect example of Hollywood glamour.

I love the embellishment of this dress with the strategic cutouts on the top bust. It’s super modern with a sleek ponytail to show off the glam of the dress.

I love seeing white on the red carpet.

Priyanka Chopra is one of my favorite style icon, and this was another hit. She makes it more casual and easygoing with a simple dark lip and minimal styling.

Some people might not love this look, but it’s totally different from the glitz and sequined gowns. I love how ethereal and romantic this gown was.

Elegant, embellished and a showstopper of a gown. It looks like it fits like a glove.

Millie Bobby Brown made my best dressed list because it’s easy for someone her age to want something crazy or colorful, but she opted for a very elegant dress instead.

This is definitely a statement piece. Some might hate it, but I love how it just screams couture. The lace detailing is super pretty and it’s another piece that breathes romance.

Style Icon: Julianne Hough

I loved this look for Julianne Hough. It’s very country chic with her hair pulled back. I also loved this color on her with the Grecian ruching.  It’s a very powerful, and yet whimsical look for her. I also loved the simple earrings she showed off by Suzanne Kalan. Her looks are always so polished, especially on the red carpet.

PLL Fashion & 2016 TCA

Here’s my review on last night’s episode: https://mytrendingstories.com/article/pretty-little-liars-review-another-one-bites-the-dust/

Also, check out the fashion from the TCA’s and the sixth episode of the seventh season.

I thought the entire cast looked amazing at the TCA’s. My favorite was Shay’s because the gold backless dress was just such a showstopper with the simple styling and updo. I also thought Lucy’s was super pretty with her metallic dress, and her summery hair made the look effortless. Ashley also rocked her metallic dress with the interesting rings on the top. Janel and Troian went for more sleek and sophisticated.

Topshop ‘Animal Print Colour Block Jumper’ – $95.00

I am love with this sweater. It embodies Aria’s crazy prints from previous seasons, but it’s worn so simple here. The color combination worked really well too.

Pam & Gela’ Destroyed Holey Stripe Sweater’ – $225.00

Emily looked so pretty in this slouchy sweater. The rips are so edgy and modern.

Zara ‘Slouchy Jeans’ – no longer available

I really liked Hanna’s ripped jean. Her jacket was very sleek, but she made the look more casual and fun with these light washed boyfriend jeans. Also, thanks to PLL Closet on Tumblr for the photos and for the details on the clothing from the show.
